                                                    Hecksher Beach Plein Air

Managed to go out and paint on location.  The beach was ravaged by mother nature, the sand was almost gone and I had to stand on a ledge to look at the beach.  It's always a challenge going out to paint, but the reward is being outdoors and doing what I love.  Happy painting everyone.

Where to begin

12x12 oil on canvas

The last painting I did before my surgery.  Thank God all is well with me.  I am home from the hospital and on the mend. But I am posing this with a deep sorrow.  We have lost our dear friend and artist Hilda. Sorry must look up the spelling of her last name.  But I know she is both known and loved by so many bloggers.  Hilda RIP…. You are missed.

Summers End Paintings

Day two, went out to finish my garden painting started a day ago. It was such a productive day yesterday. After finishing this paintings . Mike and I went to Smith's Point Beach.  I managed to do a small w/c sketch.
Just wanted to get something down, rather than just taking photos.  We renewed out Green Key card good for 3years.  I want to get back and paint in oils. Hopefully before the weather gets too cold.

Rose of Sharon in my own back yard

I've been wanting to actually set up and paint outdoors.  My energy is finally returning so I took advantage of the cool crisp fall day and set up in my yard.  Didn't finish it, so I will go out this morning. So tired of painting from photos it' s so different when out in the fresh air.

I started this 9x12 acrylic from a photo of Sunken Meadow beach.  Now that Labor Day is here I will go back to Sunken Meadow and paint on location. Happy Painting everyone.

A Still Life

                                                            Eggplant and tomato

                                                                 from Bob's Garden

While waiting for Henre to hit Long Island, I did a little watercolor sketch of the eggplant and tomato from Mike's friend Bob's garden.  We were all set for the harsh affect of the hurricane.  We lucked out, hit land fall in Connecticut.  So thank goodness we were very fortunate to be spared.

I am thinking about doing this in gouache or acrylic.

                                                                            August, w/c still life

Picked flowers from my garden and painted this little sketch in w/c

                                                                  my garden, plein air

                                                                          Gouache sketch

What I love about blogging is keeping a diary of what has been painted during the week. It is so easy to sketch or paint and just put in heap somewhere in the art room.  This way it is a way of reminding me that I have been fairly productive.  More importantly, doing what I love.  Happy Painting everyone. Thanks to my friends Jo and Joan for the inspiration.
